Name of Client: Mathare 4A Upgrading Project/Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi
Narrative Description of Project: Preliminary and detailed engineering design of water and sewer network to connect the slum area with the main city council systems with input from community on identification and prioritisation of needy areas. Design of cliff cut-off major drain including channelling through a closed major drain of 1200 mm diameter. Provision of basic infrastructure to the slum area, with priority on water supply and sewerage. In order to create way leaves for water, foul and storm water sewers, some of the slum structures needed to be demolished. The residents displaced by this activity are then resettled in new Houses also designed by the Consultant.
Description of Actual Services Provided by your Staff: Surveying, Preliminary, detailed design and preparation of contract documents, Tender formalities and evaluation and adjudication of the bids. Construction supervision and Contracts management.
